Nato in Ciociaria il 15 Maggio 1964, ha iniziato gli studi di sassofono da adolescente mostrando fin da subito una particolare inclinazione verso la composizione e lo studio della musica Jazz. All’età di 18 anni entrava a far parte della Banda Nazionale dell’Esercito in Roma, dove vi rimaneva per 10 anni sotto la direzione del Maestro Col. Marino BARTOLONI. Successivamente, ha fatto parte della Banda dei Granatieri di Sardegna (Roma) e dell’Orchestra Jazz della NATO (Shape International Band) di stanza in Mons (BELGIO), ricoprendo presso quest’ultima, per oltre tre anni, la parte di 1° Sax Tenore contribuendo fattivamente agli arrangiamenti originali affiancando il Maestro MSg Allen WITTIG.
Al suo attivo ha più di 200 brani per le più svariate formazioni musicali. A partire dalle Marching/Symphonic/Big Band fino ad arrivare alle Orchestre Sinfoniche e formazioni ridotte quali Decimini/Quintetti/Trii ecc… I suoi brani per banda sono molto apprezzati essendo in stile moderno e molto orecchiabili, senza per questo risultare di difficile esecuzione. Infine, non prive di menzione sono le sue canzoni scritte su richiesta specifica di cantanti, a seconda delle caratteristiche tecnico-artistiche degli interessati. ILIO VOLANTE

Was born in Italy on 15 of May 1964, he was still a teen ager when he started his music studies (saxophone) showing from the very beginning a particular predisposition towards the music composition and Jazz music. At the age of 19 he won the audition for the Italian National Army Band stationed in Rome. He served it for 10 years under the direction of Col. Marino BARTOLONI. After this, he played in the Grenadiers of Sardinia’s Band (Rome) and the Shape International Band (the official Nato Band) stationed in Mons (BELGIUM). In this last post, he covered for three years the 1st Tenor Saxophone slot helping the Director, MSg Allen WITTIG, in doing the original arrangements for the Big Band.
So far, in his long carrieer, he has written more than 200 tunes for several music formations. Starting from the Marching/Symphonic/Big Band’s repertoire to the Symphonic Orchestra and Decimini/Quintetti/Trii etc… His Band tunes are very well appreciated because conceived in a modern style and because they are easy listening too, but not for this resulting too difficult to play. Furthermore, he has composed many songs for several singers that commissioned them according to their artistic skills.
